Shilo Sanders, a son of University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, has put himself in a whirlwind for what he said to a female Cleveland Browns reporter who stated that Deshaun Watson should be the starting quarterback rather than his brother Shedeur Sanders.
Shilo issued a response on Instagram to Mary Kay Cabot after she wrote on X, “I think they should declare [Watson] QB ASAP and let the first-team offense start to Cook. There’s no time to waste.”
“Go make a sandwich Mary,” commented Sanders, per TMZ. (RELATED: Former Cowboys QB Tony Romo Fails To Qualify For Golf’s US Open)
An award-winning journalist, Cabot was questioned regarding what Sanders said during an appearance Thursday on 92.3 The Fan.
“I really do believe that I have been an inspiration for lots of women and young girls to know that you can go out there and do a good job in a man’s world and take on all of that that comes with that,” said Cabot. “I know that there are so many women who have joined the football world, especially because of some of the things that I’ve been able to do over the years, and I’m happy about that.”

For more than 30 years, Cabot has been providing coverage of the Browns, doing so for The Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com. Recently, she was the victor of the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame Bill Nunn Award and is one out of four female Hall of Fame selectors.
The comment from Sanders follows Cabot reporting that Watson has the edge to be the starting quarterback for the Browns, taking most of the first-team reps during voluntary minicamp.
Cleveland picked Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, playing in a total of eight games while making seven starts. Completing only 56.6% of his throws, Sanders still managed to be named to the Pro Bowl.
In 2023 and 2024, Shilo Sanders was teammates with Shedeur during their college days with the Colorado Buffaloes. Going undrafted, Shilo ultimately signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2025, but was cut from the team prior to the regular season.
