Supermodel Gigi Hadid revealed her sister, runway model Bella Hadid, is currently receiving medical treatment as part of her ongoing battle against Lyme disease.
Gigi posted a note to her Instagram story Tuesday alongside a throwback photograph of her and Bella backstage together at a fashion show that took place in July. “Can’t wait 4 the comebaccckkkkkk,” she wrote as the caption to the photo. Gigi went on to share more information about her sister’s current condition.” “Just wanna touch on this post from last week,” Gigi wrote. “Bella just finished a long and intense treatment for Lyme disease,” Gigi said.
Gigi clarified to fans that sharing a post of Bella as she prepared to strut her stuff on the runway was in no way an indication that she was making a comeback to the fashion world anytime soon.
She noted that Bella’s health condition would prevent her from taking part in upcoming shows for an unspecified amount of time.
“Didn’t want some to take my post as a promise she’ll be back for shows this next season…),” Gigi wrote to her Instagram story.
Bella was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, and has been open about her condition on social media. She has posted images of herself hooked up to an IV receiving treatment, and been candid about her ongoing health struggles.
