Champion collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines slammed professional soccer player Megan Rapinoe on Twitter over trans competitors in women’s sports.
Rapinoe tweeted that “trans kids” are not the issue in sports, instead, “unequal pay, sexual abuse & lack of resources” are to blame. Gaines shot back at Rapinoe with her own tweet writing, “It’s worth noting that 1) you’re done with your athletic career and 2) because you aren’t sexually attracted to men, it’s unlikely you will ever have a daughter to defend. To me, this looks like a classic case of virtue signaling because you have nothing to personally lose.”
Rapinoe was referencing “politicians in DC” who were “claiming to ‘protect women’s sports’” by restricting athletes to competing in sports based on a person’s biological sex, according to her tweet.

The exchange comes after an incident in which Gaines was ambushed by student activists after her speech at San Francisco State University (SFSU) April 7. Gaines was at SFSU to discuss the impact of trans athletes competing against females, specifically in swimming. Gaines claims she was “ambushed and physically hit twice by a man.” (RELATED: Trans Swimmer Lia Thomas Beats Out Female Competitors By 1.75 Seconds In NCAA Championships)

Gaines has vowed to continue speaking about the trans impact on women’s sports and claims she may pursue a lawsuit against SFSU for not having adequate protection while speaking on campus, Fox reported.
