Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki made an eyebrow-raising admission on Monday about her former boss’ work schedule.
During an interview on MSNBC, the network where she now works, Psaki reacted to the speech that Biden delivered Monday morning about the collapse of two banks, Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. In the interview, Psaki admitted that Biden “does nothing” before 9 a.m.
“It’s important to note, President Biden does nothing at 9:00 a.m. He is a night owl,” she admitted. “So, the fact that he is doing this at 9:00 a.m., anyway, speaks to how vital the White House recognizes it is for him to have his voice out there.”
The confession is noteworthy because Biden, as president of the United States, is the leader of the free world. One would think, therefore, that he has early mornings and late nights.
But a CNN report detailing Biden’s work schedule actually corroborates Psaki’s admission that Biden rarely works before 9 a.m. The story, however, also contradicts Psaki’s claim that Biden is a “night owl.”
Biden, according to the CNN story, is “an early-to-bed type.”
“[Biden] has established a regular schedule, including coffee in the mornings with the first lady, meetings and phone calls from the Oval Office starting just after 9 a.m. and a return to his residence by 7 p.m.,” the report said.
The story continued, “Unlike his most recent predecessors – night owls who spent the dark hours reading briefing materials (President Barack Obama) or watching television (President Donald Trump) – Biden is more of an early-to-bed type.”
The Washington Post, moreover, has also reported on the “surreal regimentation that define[s] Biden’s days,” disclosing the same work schedule as other news outlets.
“The extreme scripting and almost surreal regimentation that define Biden’s days, from his arrival in the Oval Office just after 9 a.m. to his brief walk back to the White House residence for dinner with his wife by 7 p.m,” the Post reported.
Biden’s schedule, the Post admitted, is “notably light,” which has led to criticism throughout his presidency.
