Report: Secret Service agents subpoenaed in Mar-a-Lago case ahead of Trump’s arraignment

Special counsel Jack Smith has subpoenaed multiple U.S. Secret Service agents connected to former President Trump’s security detail, ABC News reported Monday.

“Special ‘Prosecutor’ Jack Smith … leaked massive amounts of information to The Washington ComPost,” former President Trump wrote, in part, in a post on TruthSocial Monday night.

“This is illegal, and I assume this Radical Left Lunatic, much to the chagrin of his Trump Hating wife and family, will be PROSECUTED? He is a totally biased Thug … Biden is guilty of Obstruction, I am not!”

The agents are expected to testify Friday, just 3 days after the former president is scheduled for arraignment in a separate matter, according to an anonymous source cited by Fox News.

The subpoenas are connected to a case involving alleged mishandling of classified documents held in the former president’s home in Mar-a-Lago near Palm Beach in southern Florida.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung described the special counsel’s investigation as a “witch-hunt” with “no basis in facts or law,” as TheBlaze reported Sunday. He further described special counsel Jack Smith and the Department of Justice as “deranged.”

Cheung was responding to an exclusive, anonymously sourced report in Sunday’s Washington Post that the DOJ had amassed a trove of “fresh” evidence of alleged obstruction connected with the March 8 raid on Mar-a-Lago.

The evidence, according to the Post, involves a former staffer’s texts and emails. Investigators are reportedly looking at the possibility that the former president may have obstructed justice by going through boxes containing sensitive materials after receiving the subpoena in May.

Meanwhile, President Trump is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Manhattan later today, following an indictment delivered by a grand jury last week.

Today’s case involves a payment made by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen to adult film actor Stormy Daniels.

At the time of this writing, the indictment remains under seal. However, Monday evening, Michael Isikoff reported that the indictment contains 34 felony counts of falsification of business records. Trump called for District Attorney Alvin Bragg to resign and to be indicted over the leak.

Spokespersons for the Secret Service and for Smith declined comment to Fox News regarding the Secret Service agents’ subpoenas in the Mar-a-Lago alleged obstruction case. Spokespersons for Smith’s office also declined comment to ABC.
