On Tuesday, May 23, HBO Max is going away — when it will be reskinned as Max, stocked with more than twice the total amount of programming. Max’s expanded streaming menu includes the addition of hundreds of episodes of Discovery+ shows, and it’s set to get dozens of new TV shows and movies over the next month.

The new Max will feature 35,000 hours of programming, more than double what has been available on HBO Max. According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the service will be continuously updated with fresh content, averaging more than 40 new movie titles and TV seasons per month.

Max will continue to serve as the streaming home for HBO originals, Warner Bros. films, Max originals, the DC universe, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Adult Swim and Cartoon Network. On top of that, it will add shows from HGTV, Food Network, Discovery Channel, TLC, ID, Magnolia Network and more (while Discovery+, for now, will continue to be available separately).

On May 23, Max will come out of the gate with original series “SmartLess: On the Road,” “How to Create a Sex Scandal,” “What Am I Eating? With Zooey Deschanel,” “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai,” “Clone High” and sorority documentary “Bama Rush” — plus the streaming premiere of DC movie “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.”

Max’s launch week also will feature the debut of HBO comedy special “Sarah Silverman: Someone You Love” (May 27), documentary “Being Mary Tyler Moore” (May 26), and HBO original film “Reality” (May 29) starring Sydney Sweeney; the finale of Max original limited series “Love & Death” starring Elizabeth Olsen (May 25); and the debut of special “100 Years of Warner Bros.” (May 25).

On Sunday, May 28, Max will stream the series finales of HBO originals “Succession” and “Barry,” as well as the season finale of “Somebody Somewhere.” Next month, Max will feature “The Idol” (June 4), starring Abel Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (June 7) and Season 2 of “And Just Like That” (June 22).

Existing content includes every season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” (8 seasons), “The Sopranos” (6 seasons), “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (11 seasons), “Sex and the City” (6 seasons), “The Wire” (5 seasons), “Veep” (7 seasons), “Silicon Valley” (6 seasons) and “Insecure” (5 seasons). Max provides full seasons of shows including “Friends” (10 seasons), “South Park” (26 seasons), “The Big Bang Theory” (12 seasons) and “Abbott Elementary” (one season), and Adult Swim titles including “Rick and Morty” (6 seasons) and “Robot Chicken” (11 seasons).

Classic films in Max will include “Casablanca,” “A Clockwork Orange,” “A Streetcar Named Desire,” “The Shining,” “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Some Like It Hot,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Cleopatra,” the full Harry Potter film collection, and DC titles including “Shazam!,” “Black Adam,” “Aquaman” and “The Dark Knight.”

Kids’ content on Max will include dedicated hubs for Cartoon Network and Sesame Workshop, which will include “Sesame Street” and other hit preschool shows such as “Bugs Bunny Builders,” plus classics such as “Looney Tunes Cartoons,” “Tom & Jerry” and “Scooby-Doo.” Additionally, Max will continue to be the exclusive streaming home of Studio Ghibli in the U.S., offering all 22 animated films from the Japanese animation house including “Spirited Away,” “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “My Neighbor Totoro.”
