REPORT: Cleveland Browns Player Robbed At Gunpoint, Police Say

Six masked men allegedly robbed at least one Cleveland Browns player at gunpoint on Monday, while another player had his car stolen over the weekend, according to police.

At least one player was targeted after leaving a popular Cleveland nightclub in the early morning hours, reported WKYC. Upon reaching the player’s parked truck, the masked suspects allegedly held them at gunpoint, stealing both the truck and jewelry. Team sources indicated that one of the players was cornerback Greg Newsom, who owned the truck, according to ESPN

There were also reports that a second player, which ESPN identified as defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey, was also robbed. However, one of the two players stated that he was inside the bar and did not witness the robbery, according to WKYC.

Newsome acknowledged the incident Monday night on Twitter, expressing his thoughts on the matter. “It’s a cruel world we live in,” he wrote. (RELATED: CBS Miami’s Samantha Rivera Stiff-Arms Rude Vegas Golden Knights Fan, Still Does Her Job To Perfection Like A Boss)

Both players were unharmed, reported ESPN. Police are actively searching for the stolen vehicle and the suspects involved. Although the truck was equipped with a GPS tracking device, the vehicle was moving at such a high speed that interception was impossible, reported WKYC.

Newsome is not the only Browns player to suffer vehicle-related theft over the weekend. Backup running back Demetric Felton had his car stolen from his apartment garage Sunday, reported ESPN.

Despite these unsettling events, the Cleveland Browns are preparing to kick off their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, staying focused on their upcoming season
