Tennis superstar Nick Kyrgios reportedly further explained his battle with mental health issues and spoke about his rock bottom in season two of “Break Point.”

After the 2019 Wimbledon tournament, Kyrgios was placed into a psychiatric ward in London because of suicidal thoughts, according to Australian media Wednesday via the New York Post, which cited the Netflix docu-series.

“I was genuinely contemplating if I wanted to commit suicide,” said Kyrgios in Break Point’s sixth episode “Belonging,” which comes out June 21.

In the second round of Wimbledon, Kyrgios lost a tight match against the legendary Rafael Nadal, but the loss would be a lot bigger to the Australian than just a regular defeat in his career.

“’I lost at Wimbledon. I woke up and my dad was sitting on the bed, full-blown crying. That was the big wake-up call for me. I was like: ‘OK, I can’t keep doing this.’ I ended up in a psych ward in London to figure out my problems,“ said Kyrgios, who was also involved in Break Point’s first season.

Before being admitted to a psychiatric ward, the 10-year pro has been dealing with mental health struggles, and in fact, things were so bad for Kyrgios that he even wore a sleeve to cover up his self-harm. “If you look closely, on my right arm you can see my self-harm,” the 28-year-old said in a 2022 Instagram post.

“I was having suicidal thoughts and was literally struggling to get out of bed, let alone play in front of millions.”

Nick Kyrgios competed with an arm sleeve to cover his self-harm:

“You could tell I was hurting. My whole arm was covered in scars – that’s why I actually got my arm sleeve to cover it all. I was genuinely contemplating if I wanted to commit suicide.” pic.twitter.com/gn1SLuq13I
