Parents said they were horrified when their children were exposed to a drag queen performer apparently simulating a sex act with a power tool at a theme park in Britain.
Video of the offensive performance went viral online after it was recorded at Adventure Island family park in Essex on Saturday.
The video shows drag queen Crystal, whose real name is Colin Munro, simulating a sex act with an angle grinder on his crotch while thrusting his hips.
Among those who circulated the video was the popular Libs of TikTok account.
Philip Miller, executive chairman of the theme park, told MailOnline that there had been a misunderstanding about what would be allowed at the event.
‘We humbly apologise to all of our loyal customers for any offence caused,” said Miller.
He also vowed that the park would not host a Pride event again, nor would officials there ever book the drag queen again.
Some parents told MailOnline that they would not be returning to the park over the incident.
“I won’t be going back, and I won’t be taking my kids there,” said a mother of two children identified only as Amanda. “That is a line you don’t cross. That tells me everything you need to know about how they value children.”
The drag queen denied that anything he did on stage was sexual in nature.
“My act is no different to what you might see on ‘Britain’s Got Talent,’ from Lady Gaga on MTV, or from a street performer in Covent Garden,” said Munro. “This is deemed ‘sexual’ solely because I was performing in drag.”
He also pointed out that this was the third year that he had performed as a drag queen at the theme park’s Pride Day event.
