Jimmy Kimmel asked Wanda Sykes on his late-night show Tuesday to name “the number one thing you worry about” when it comes to Donald Trump.
“Well, everything. Everything,” replied the actor and comedian, who is a vocal critic of the president.
“He makes you worry about everything,” she continued.
Sykes explained why: “Like the hantavirus. I heard about it here and there. I was like, ‘Oh, it’s no big deal.’ Until I heard him talk about it. He’s like, ‘Oh, it’s under control. Well, you know, we got a good grip on it but we think we have it. It’s, uh, well, I don’t know the people. I don’t know anything about it, but it’s under control.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, we’re all gonna die by the hantavirus.’”
“Like, I wasn’t concerned about it until he started talking about it,” she said.
“Now Ebola is out here,” she added. “What the hell, man?”
Sykes also recalled the night last September she was scheduled to appear on Kimmel’s show, for it to be temporarily pulled off the air at the last minute following controversy over his Charlie Kirk monologue.
“I was like, ‘What the hell?’” Sykes recalled, adding she ended up drinking martinis with a lemon twist. “When life hands you lemons, you make martinis with a lemon twist,” she joked.
Kimmel said he texted Sykes that night to explain what had happened.
“And I think I text you back all kind of crazy stuff like, ‘You want us to roll through?’” Sykes remembered. “Like, I, you know, I don’t hang out with roll through people. What am I talking about?”
Sykes also shared a clip from her new Netflix special “Wanda Sykes: Legacy” in which she admitted:
“I can’t believe I’m going to say this, y’all. But I miss 2016 Trump. Baby Trump seems cute now. You know, we just had to humor him. Yeah. ‘Oh, I’m going to build a wall.’ ‘Oh, you going to build a wall? Yes, you are going to build a wall. You’re going to build a big, beautiful wall, aren’t you? Uh-huh.’”
