The Jets organization declined to comment to the New York Post, and Smith hasn’t addressed the situation at this time.
In the 2013 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Smith with a pick in the second round, going on to play in New York until 2015. Following runs with the Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers, Smith was brought back by the Jets earlier in 2026 through a trade with the Raiders. Playing 12 NFL campaigns and racking up 89 total starts in the regular season, it’s anticipated that Smith will be the Jets’ 2026 starting quarterback.
