The Detroit Lions revealed that they released cornerback Terrion Arnold after he was arrested on four counts each of kidnapping and armed robbery in a June 29 statement.

Arnold turned himself in at Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County while facing the charges, the Tampa Police Department announced June 24. The NFL player is a susect in an alleged attack on three men. He could face up to life in prison if convicted.

The case began Feb. 1 when thieves allegedly took more than $250,000 in property from an Airbnb rented by Arnold. The athlete suspected that two of the victims took part in the theft, according to police.

Arnold allegedly directed co-defendants Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo to lure one of the victims to an apartment Feb. 4 around midnight. Co-defendants Christion Williams and Lyndel Hudson III were hiding in a bedroom closet while all three victims drove to the location, according to police. The victims alleged Williams and Hudson struck them and held them at gunpoint.

The cornerback was taken 24th overall by the Lions in 2024. Arnold is still owed a $1.273 million 2026 base salary as well as a $2.75 million figure for 2027, NBC Sports reported.

The Lions’ defense finished the 2025 season in the bottom half of the league against the pass. The Super Bowl hopefuls now must replace another piece on an already injury-ridden and shaky pass defense.
