As Trump was pushing Republicans to hold a midterm election convention, Democrats were ruling it out, as they saw little benefit in holding a convention for an election that is made up of hundreds of district and state-level contests to determine control of Congress.
Donald Trump is the least popular president in the history of polling. Republicans who are running for House and Senate seats need to be getting as far away from this orange anchor as they can.
No matter how much Republicans think that they can hold an election where Donald Trump is not the issue in their states and districts, the president continues to hijack the midterm election and make it all about himself.
Trump announced that the least popular president in the history of polling is going to rub his stink of failure all over Republican candidates from coast to coast by holding a midterm election convention.
Coming off of the failed Great American State Fair, Trump unleashed his latest bad idea.
Trump posted on Truth Social:
BIG NEWS! For the first time ever, the Republican Party will hold a MIDTERM CONVENTION. It will be in Dallas, Texas — One of my favorite places in the World. It will be fantastic! It has never been done before, and will be a truly Historic Event. We are going to celebrate the GREAT AMERICAN COMEBACK, and the incredible successes of the American People who transformed our Country through the America First Agenda — NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY, STRONGER BORDERS, SAFEST EVER COMMUNITIES, LOWER COSTS AND REAL AFFORDABILITY, MORE JOBS, AMERICAN ENERGY DOMINANCE, AND SO MUCH MORE!
So, Trump is holding a convention to tell America that everything is great? Yeah, this should go over well.
Trump had more delusional fantasies to share about how great things are going:

There it is. Trump is going to hold a convention so that he can be the center of attention. Trump is apparently also going to try to play concert promoter again after the Great American State Fair debacle, so prepare yourself for multiple performances of Proud To Be An American by Lee Greenwood.

Trump wants every American to know that he is on the ballot in November. The idea of a Republican midterm election starring Trump is a dream come true for Democrats.
The midterm convention will be a fiasco, and it will give Democrats what they want.
