Despite the clear warnings that this would happen, the Democratic establishment seems completely befuddled by the rise of radicals within their party.
After New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani upset former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the 2025 mayoral race, it seems the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and its aligned candidates are quickly becoming the new face of the Democratic Party. Darializa Avila Chevalier, Melat Kiros, Janeese Lewis George, and Nithya Raman have all advanced against long odds in their primary races. Membership in DSA surpassed 100,000 in the U.S., according to the organization’s website.
