Luckily, football season is around the corner, because screw this.
The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) played like absolute trash Monday night in the entire Round of 16 game against Belgium, and it was a complete disaster in the first half that got things started. As a matter of fact, the play was so bad from USMNT that it infuriated head coach Mauricio Pochettino to the point where he kicked the crap out of Powerade bottles.
Less than 10 minutes into the game, Belgium put themselves up 1-0 over the United States after forward Charles De Ketelaere clipped the ball into the net, which instantly put a blanket of silence on the sold-out crowd in Seattle.
With that being said, the U.S. did bring back the energy after midfielder Malik Tillman landed a goal on a free kick, just like he did in the Round of 32 game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Against Belgium, he was able to get his shot past iconic keeper Thibaut Courtois, which came courtesy of a deflection that was off a Belgian defender. That particular scene took place in the 31st minute, however, the anger from Pochettino followed the Americans conceding a second goal only two minutes later.
That goal also came from De Ketelaere, which was scored after he jumped over USMNT defender Tim Ream and used his head to put the ball in the net.
Ultimately when the smoke cleared, it was Belgium who walked away with a dominating 4-1 win.
