Former “Superman” actor Dean Cain seemed skeptical of claims that Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan, had been captain of his high school football team – or even played at all.
“Has anyone ever seen a photo of Michigan Senate candidate Abdulrahman Mohamed El Sayed (D) playing High School football?” Cain, a conservative and a supporter of President Donald Trump, wrote on X. “He says he was captain of the team, but I can’t find a single photo. Internet, please do your thing ―”
People replied with images. But Cain, who played the DC hero in the 1990s TV series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” wasn’t swayed.
In another message, he posted a pic of himself playing football in 1981 and again asked for a photo of El-Sayed.
“His website says he was ‘captain,’” Cain wrote. “There must be photos if this was the case.”
Even shared newspaper articles weren’t enough to persuade Cain.
“What newspaper?” he asked when someone posted an image of a 2002 article from The Detroit Free Press.
El-Sayed played football, wrestling and lacrosse in high school, and lacrosse in college, according to his bio. He also played youth hockey. He has photos on his Instagram of himself in both his lacrosse and football uniforms.
