“Stability has therefore become more important than ever,” the insider explained. “The royals have also been dealing with the continuing fallout from Andrew Windsor’s Jeffrey Epstein scandal, so no more drama is the order of the day for Charles.
“The difficulty is that Harry and Meghan command tremendous attention without having to do very much at all, and they are seen as agents of chaos within royal circles.
“Simply establishing themselves in Britain again creates endless questions about whether they will see the King, whether relations with William can improve, whether their children will become closer to the Royal Family and whether there is eventually some route back toward the monarchy.”
They continued, “That is why some people consider the timing insensitive. The monarchy is attempting to navigate the King’s health problems while projecting continuity and calm, and suddenly another highly unpredictable and yet another Sussex soap opera storyline has been introduced.
“The concern isn’t necessarily that Harry and Meghan deliberately intended to overshadow Charles. It is that they must have understood the extraordinary level of attention their return would generate. At such a delicate moment for the King and the institution, critics will inevitably question why this announcement had to come now.”
