Fox News is parting ways with anchor Maria Bartiromo over a decade after she joined the network from CNBC, the company announced Thursday.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” the company said in a statement, without clarifying why Bartiromo is departing.
The Fox News personality became known for her frequent on-air interviews with President Donald Trump in which she would amplify his baseless election fraud conspiracy theories.
The veteran journalist hosted “Mornings with Maria” on the FOX Business Network, which aired Thursday morning ahead of the company’s announcement that stated it would be the last episode.
The network said “Sunday Morning Futures,” also hosted by Bartiromo, would be led by Jason Chaffetz on Sunday, with a new host to be announced at a later date.
Bartiromo rose to prominence in the mid-1990s as a CNBC anchor, becoming the first to report live from the New York Stock Exchange floor. She hosted a number of network programs, including “Closing Bell” and “On the Money with Maria Bartiromo.”
After joining Fox News in 2014, Bartiromo continued to host a daily show covering the economy and public policy, and to appear on the network’s daily news shows.
Her ratings soared when she began to delve into politics by interviewing Trump ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
