Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) pulled no punches when asked about a ProPublica report that Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev, who has close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, helped fund the May wedding of Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas.
“I mean, as we’ve seen, these guys are in the pocket of everyone but the American people,” Ocasio-Cortez told MeidasTouch’s Pablo Manríquez.
Ocasio-Cortez described the revelation that the nuptials of Donald Trump’s eldest son was bankrolled in such a way as “profoundly disturbing.”
“I said it two years ago and I’m saying it again, this administration, they are selling out every single person in this country for a buck,” she continued.
It’s “disgusting,” she said.
“And for what? To have a couple of extra frills at your wedding?” she asked, before repeating that it was “disgusting.”
Kremlev attended the wedding celebrations.
Trump Jr.’s father, the president, did not.
Ocasio-Cortez on Monday also addressed Trump’s repeated claim that America is enjoying some sort of “golden age,” thanks to him.
“A golden age of what? Of what? I mean, he’s putting golden toilets all over Washington, D.C.,” she told Manríquez.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), asked by Manríquez to respond to the same comment, zinged: “You need gold to buy diesel now so maybe it is the golden age.”
