Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson-Produced Drama

Starz has set a July 31 premiere date for its new original drama “Fightland,” unveiling first-look images from the British-set boxing crime series executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

Described as a gritty, high-stakes drama set in the world of British boxing, the series marks Starz’s first wholly owned original following Lionsgate and Starz becoming separate companies. New episodes will debut weekly on Fridays across the Starz app and all streaming and on-demand platforms.

“Fightland” centers on Duke Kilroy (Howard Charles), a disgraced boxing champion whose life unravels after a violent tragedy. According to the official synopsis, “On the night Duke Kilroy becomes world heavyweight champion, a vicious assault leaves his brother, Calvin, dead, causing Duke to snap and results in him spending eight years in a U.S. prison. Upon his release, and after having made a sinister discovery, Duke returns home seeking vengeance against the man he believes set him up — the criminal kingpin and former promoter, Kingsley Marshall (Nicholas Pinnock).”

However, Kingsley has disappeared, leaving behind a fractured empire now overseen by his family, including his wife Joy (Deborah Ayorinde), who also shares a complicated past with Duke. As he works to infiltrate the organization from within, Duke becomes entangled in a dangerous web of power, crime and shifting loyalties tied to London’s drug trade.

The ensemble cast also includes Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Charles Babalola, Tahirah Sharif, Tyler Conti and Richard Pepple.

The series is created by Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith, who executive produce alongside Jackson. Showrunners Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr. also serve as executive producers, with Otto Bathurst directing the first two episodes.

“Fightland” is produced by G-Unit Film & Television and Expanded Media.
