A judge sentenced former “How I Met Your Mother” actor Nick Pasqual on June 2 to 32 years in prison after a jury convicted him of attempted murder for the brutal stabbing and sexual assault of his ex-girlfriend.
The actor was convicted on crimes spanning from January 2024 to May 23, 2024, when he broke into Allie Shehorn’s Los Angeles home at 4:30 am and violently stabbed her more than 20 times, according to USA Today.
He was convicted on all six counts brought against him, including attempted murder with findings that he used a deadly weapon during a domestic violence incident. Los Angeles criminal records indicated he was also convicted of forcible rape, three felony counts of injuring a spouse, fiancée or partner, and one count of felony first-degree burglary with a person in the home.
A GoFundMe page was established to assist Shehorn, who suffered critical injuries in the attack.
Her loved ones reported that she underwent multiple surgeries and endured a number of procedures to close wounds in her neck and repair severed tendons in her right arm, and appealed for assistance in covering the costs of medical expenses.
“This is a burden that I will carry for the rest of my life,” Pasqual told the court June 2 in a video shared by Starline Entertainment.
He went on to say he felt “deep remorse” for his actions.
“Allie Shehorn miraculously survived and courageously stood before her abuser in court to testify about the brutality she endured,” District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a statement shared with USA TODAY.
He continued, “Her trial testimony was crucial in securing a guilty verdict so Mr. Pasqual could no longer be free to hurt anyone else.”
Hochman said that the case highlights the “painful reality that domestic violence thrives when its victims live in fear and stay silent.”
Pasqual was detained at the U.S.-Mexico border while fleeing California after the attack. He was extradited to Los Angeles to face charges and pleaded not guilty in March 2025. The trial lasted two weeks and jurors required just an hour and a half to deliberate before finding him guilty, according to USA Today. Pasqual also appeared in “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” the Steve Jobs biopic “Jobs,” and the 2009 film, “Homecoming.”
