A woman was arrested on Monday for allegedly fatally stabbing her husband and their 3-year-old son during an extended family vacation at The Great Wolf Lodge in Pennsylvania.
“Everyday, I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasn’t supposed to end like this,” the 27-year-old mother, Metallica Rose Harrison, allegedly told police following their deaths on Monday, ABC News reports citing a criminal complaint.
Authorities say Harrison called police after stabbing her family.
“I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child,” she continued.
Security personnel at the resort told detectives that Harrison; her husband, Charles Harrison; and their son had checked in on Sept. 21 and were scheduled to check out Oct. 13, after extending their reservation, according to the complaint also reviewed by Lancaster’s local TV station WGAL.
Pocono Township police say they received a call from a “distressed” Harrison around 1 p.m. on Monday pleading for help to commit suicide, according to a statement authorities posted this week.
She allegedly told the dispatcher she’s “too weak to stab” her neck and “my husband and son are already gone in the bed,” WGAL reports. Harrison was found with wounds when police arrived.
Her husband was found with multiple stab wounds to the chest, and their son with one stab wound to the chest, according to the outlet. Both were discovered on separate mattresses on the floor.
A spokesperson for The Great Wold Lodge told JS in a statement they “are deeply saddened and heartbroken” by the “tragic domestic incident.”
“It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation,” the statement read. “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected.”
Melissa Rivera, Charles Harrison’s sister, called her brother “a good guy whose whole life was centered around his wife and child” in a GoFundMe launched to offset funeral expenses.
Rivera wrote: “Their passing was sudden, and we are heartbroken trying to come to terms with losing two people we loved so dearly.”
