‘Entourage’ Star Really Wants A Reboot, But Would It Work In 2023?

Multiple stars from HBO’s hit series “Entourage” have expressed a deep interest in reviving the series, largely thanks to a comment from actor Mark Wahlberg on Saturday.

For those of you who may not remember, “Entourage” was the epic HBO series chronicling the life of Hollywood up-and-comer Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), and was based on Wahlberg’s real experiences in entertainment. Rumors of “Entourage’s” return started after Wahlberg told PageSix on Saturday that he would “definitely support it.”

Shortly after Wahlberg’s comments made headlines, the show’s original cast joined in with its support. Three of the show’s leading men, Doug Ellin, Kevin Connolly, and Kevin Dillon, host a show called “Victory the Podcast.” The show’s Instagram page shared a screenshot of one such headline, under which Dillon commented “let’s f*cking do it!”

Anyone with a sense of humor and taste wants “Entourage” back on our screens. It’s one of those shows that seems to never age, and every time you watch it, it feels like you’re seeing something you didn’t see the first time.

But would “Entourage” work in 2023? Our sociopolitical climate is pretty miserable right now, and most shows only get made when they loop in a whole lot of woke garbage. Even HBO played into a number of woke tropes in their new hit series “The Last Of Us.” It didn’t take away from the story much, but the same vibe just wouldn’t work for “Entourage.” In fact, it would probably ruin the show forever.

There is, however, a solution. Since “Entourage” told an honest story of the entertainment industry when it was first released, why not tell an honest one now? Why not show how executives, showrunners, real people involved with production don’t give a crap about diversity, equity, the #MeToo movement, or any of that stuff? They just say they do because they think it’ll make them more money.

Imagine juxtaposing the glitz of so-called elites with their hypocrisies. How great it would be for those of us who vomit at the myth of glamor in Los Angeles to see its truth writ large? These stars might show up to the Oscars in a five-figure suit, but they drive past doped out teenage tweakers, days away from dying on the Walk of Fame from their untreated drug addictions and mental health issues.

Wahlberg himself bailed on Los Angeles because the place is a freaking mess, so why not make that the focal point, and make it sad and funny like the original show? (RELATED: REPORT: The Next ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel Announced By Paramount Executive)

Aside from calling out the bulls*it of LA, I would love to see Vincent Chase show up on the set of a show styled on “Yellowstone,” only to get his ass handed to him by a Taylor Sheridan-inspired showrunner. That would just be great, and humbling as heck to all the pretty boys who are still hoping for their shot at stardom from that godless town.

Honestly, the storyline potential is myriad for an “Entourage” reboot, and I think if it was done well, it could finally put an end to the cringe spewed by celebrities who think they know the real world better than those of us living in it. And it would give us something to watch on a Sunday night while we wait for the real “Yellowstone” to return.
