French actor Gerard Depardieu is accused of sexual harassment of 13 women, according to a new report.
Mediapart, a French independent investigative website, claims that Depardieu has been accused of sexual harassment by 13 women – mostly extras on films shot between 2004 and 2022.
Variety reported, “The accusations were made by female actors, make-up artists, and production staff, some of whom spoke on the basis of anonymity, and allegedly occurred during the filming of 11 films released between 2004 and 2022.”
A former extra on the 2015 film “The Box” said Depardieu “put his hand under (her) dress” and “tried to get into (her) knickers.” The woman allegedly pushed him away, and the French actor allegedly became “aggressive.”
The movie scene was reportedly altered so that the alleged victim was no longer near Depardieu, according to an anonymous production team member.
An actor in the film said she heard Depardieu “shouting that he could have who he wanted and that he didn’t want her, that she was a ‘fat pig.'”
Helène Darras, who was an extra on the movie “Disco,” told Mediapart that the French celebrity “grabbed [her] by the waist” and had a “wandering hand.” She alleged that the actor grabbed her buttocks.
The 26-year-old Darras claimed that he put “his hand on [her] bum in an insistent way” and suggested that they go to his dressing room.
Three non-French extras claimed that the Golden Globe-winning actor attempted to fondle them during the 2015 filming of the movie “Big House” in New York City.
The film’s wardrobe assistant, Isabel Butel, allegedly reacted to the accusations by saying, “It was kind of ‘Oh, that’s Gérard, he’s a bit mischievous!'”
However, none of the 13 women have reportedly taken legal action against the 74-year-old Depardieu.
The statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office said, “The prosecutor has not received any new lawsuit. A formal investigation, launched in 2020 following the lawsuit filed by Charlotte Arnaud, is still ongoing.”
Depardieu’s legal representation, Cabinet Temime, has denied all of the accusations.
Depardieu “formally denies all of the accusations that could be subject to criminal law.”
The statement from Depardieu’s legal counsel declared that the actor “doesn’t intend on addressing” the accusations “which appear to mix very diverse topics, including some very subjective assessments and/or moral judgments.”
On Dec. 16, 2020, Depardieu was indicted on the accusations of rape and sexual assault based on a 2018 lawsuit filed by Charlotte Arnould.
