John Deere, a corporation that manufactures agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, forestry machinery and lawn care equipment, pledges to invest $20 billion in America over the next decade.
During its second-quarter 2025 earnings call in May, John Deere Chairman and CEO John May announced the $20 billion investment and highlighted upcoming projects, according to AGDAILY. John Deere plans to invest $13.5 million on a 120,000 square feet expansion of its Reman Core Center facility in Strafford, Missouri, according to its website. The company has announced other moves, including a new facility to build excavators in Kernersville, North Carolina, and improvements to a Tennessee factory.
Since 2019, John Deere has invested $2.5 billion in its American factories and $80 billion in U.S. suppliers, according to its website. In 2025, the firm invested $100 million in U.S. factories.
John Deere’s announcement comes as it has faced criticism from the agricultural industry for moving portions of its operations to Mexico, AGDAILY reported. The firm laid off nearly 200 workers in its first week in 2025, and more are reportedly anticipated.
John Deere appeared to update their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies in July 2024 after activist and documentary filmmaker Robby Starbuck issued a set of allegations about the firm’s activities.

Founded in 1837 by John Deere, the company employs around 30,000 Americans and operates 60 factories and offices in over 16 U.S. states, according to its website. Independent dealers in turn employ approximately 50,000. The firm said it has secured jobs for around 450 U.S. military veterans. John Deere claims its has an economic influence on U.S. hometowns valued at $25 billion.
