Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis obliterated a heckler who interrupted his rally by calling him a “f***ing fascist” in South Carolina.
The incident unfolded along the campaign trail at an event in Lexington as DeSantis was explaining his policies on public education and curriculum transparency.
“And unfortunately, there’s bad stuff that’s getting into the schools, there’s pornography that’s getting into the schools. So the parents have had to blow the whistle in Florida,” DeSantis said during his speech.
“What about the parents’ rights to health care, to their kids’ health care?” yelled the heckler. “You’re a f***ing fascist!”
DeSantis berated the heckler while receiving cheers from the supportive audience.
“We’re not going to let you impose an agenda on our kids! We’re going to stand up for our kids! We’re going to make sure to do it right! That’s what we’re going to do!” said DeSantis to loud applause.
“Those people like that in Florida are the people we beat every single day on policy! We do not let them win!” he continued.
“We win all these battles, we’re not letting them indoctrinate our kids! Not on our watch,” DeSantis concluded.
The governor is on a four-day campaign tour through key primary states, including Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
DeSantis entered into the presidential race on May 24 and is second place in the polls behind the Republican primary frontrunner, former President Donald Trump. Although the announcement on Twitter Spaces suffered from technological glitches, the DeSantis campaign reported garnering over $8.2 million in campaign donations in the 24 hours after the event.
Trump has responded by accusing DeSantis of disloyalty and of running Florida poorly, despite admitting that he voted for DeSantis for governor in 2022.
