Samuel Jackson says Brie Larson was ‘broken’ by 2016 election, compares Trump to ‘rednecks’ who called Jackson the N-word

Actor Samuel L. Jackson said that his film co-star Brie Larson was “broken” by the 2016 election and compared former President Donald Trump to “rednecks” who would use racial epithets against the actor when he was younger.

Jackson made the comments in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

The actor said that he bonded with Larson when they both worked on the 2017 “Kong: Skull Island” film and that he had to comfort her when Trump won the 2016 election.

“We had done ‘Kong’ together, which was not the most wonderful experience for either of us. We became great friends during that particular experience because we were having such a hard time,” he said in the interview.

“Then, we bonded through the election while we were doing her movie when Donald Trump won. She was broken, and I was like, ‘Don’t let ‘em break you. You have to be strong now,'” Jackson added.

He went on to insult Trump.

“When I see Trump, I see the same rednecks I saw when I was growing up who called me “n*****” and tried to keep me in my place. That’s what the Republican Party is to me. They’re doing it to young people, gay people. They don’t care who you are. If you’re not them, you’re the enemy,” Jackson claimed.

He also criticized those who attacked Larson over her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“These incel dudes who hate strong women or the fact that she’s a feminist who has an opinion and expressed it? Everybody wants people to be who they want them to be. She is who she is, and she’s genuinely that,” he explained.

The 74-year-old actor portrays the Nick Fury character in the MCU and headlines the upcoming “Secret Invasion” series on Disney+.
