Zul Mohamed, a Texas politician who pleaded guilty to more than 100 voter-fraud-related felony charges and mounted a second run for mayor, is drawing renewed criticism after a video circulating on social media appeared to show him making inflammatory remarks about U.S. veterans and the military.

Mohamed, a Pakistani-American and nonpartisan mayoral candidate in Denton County, Texas, pleaded guilty in 2024 to 106 felony counts stemming from a mail-ballot fraud scheme connected to his failed 2020 Carrollton mayoral campaign, according to documents obtained by The Heritage Foundation.

According to Texas Scorecard, Mohamed was found with a box of “fraudulently obtained mail ballots” in October 2020. In a press release from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that same month, it was disclosed that Mohamed had been arrested on 84 counts of mail-ballot application fraud and 25 counts of unlawful possession of an official mail ballot.

State investigators alleged that Mohamed used a false identity to obtain a virtual mailbox and directed fraudulently requested mail ballots to that location, according to the Texas Attorney General’s Office.

He spent four years seeking delays in his legal case, eventually pleading guilty to nearly all charges in 2024. Subsequently, a Texas jury sentenced him to 10 years of probation, over 180 hours of community service, and four years in prison, reported The Dallas Express.

Despite his guilty plea and conviction, Mohamed was able to run for mayor of Carrollton again in 2026 while appealing portions of his case, according to The Dallas Express.

He ultimately lost the race to his opponent Steve Babick, according to election results reported by Ballotpedia.

Mohamed has also faced additional legal trouble. In 2025, authorities charged the former mayoral candidate with sending fake jury summons postcards to residents shortly before a court proceeding in his voter-fraud case, WFAA reported.

Now Mohamed is generating controversy for his remarks at a Frisco, Texas “Rally Against Rednecks” where he was arguing with individuals at the competing “Rednecks Rally,” according to an X post made by Frontline TPUSA. (RELATED: Giants’ Jaxson Dart Reveals Why He Introduced Trump At Rally)

A video shared on X appears to show Mohamed participating in a protest where he says, “No vet has made any sacrifice. I want to make that clear. I do not support the US military. No, I do not support the United States. I look down on both entities.”

The video sparked criticism online, with users pointing to Mohamed’s history of election-related crimes and repeated political campaigns. Conservative author and founder of ACT for America, Brigitte Gabriel, wrote, “The enemy is already inside the gates.”

Notably, at the time of his 2024 sentencing, the Texas jury agreed with the assertion of Mohamed’s defense attorney that his client is mentally ill, The Dallas Express reported.
