The Biden family dog, Commander Biden, has bitten numerous Secret Service agents. But the White House is excusing the repeated “aggressive behavior.”
Newly released emails show that Secret Service officials have documented at least 10 incidents of “aggressive behavior” and biting by the first dog, Commander, a 2-year-old German Shepherd. In at least one incident, a Secret Service agent was sent to the hospital after Commander bit him multiple times.
Six of the documented incidents, in fact, required medical attention.
And it could be worse than that. Judicial Watch, which obtained the emails, only received messages from October 2022 to January 2023. That means incidents that have occurred since then are not included.
In one email, a Secret Service agent wrote his colleague who had been hospitalized and asserted, “If it wasn’t their dog he would already have been put down — freaking clown needs a muzzle.”
The White House responded to the emails on Tuesday by excusing Commander’s behavior as the product of a “stressful” environment at the Whit eHouse.
“As you all know, the White House complex can be unique and very stressful. And that is something I’m sure you all can understand,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “It is unique and it is stressful for all of us, so you can imagine what it’s like for a family pet and family pets.”

She refused to disclose, however, the number of additional incidents that have occurred since January 2023. Instead, she referred other questions to the Secret Service.
But the Secret Service isn’t providing details either. Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the USSS, released a lengthy statement about the incidents, but provided no new information, including how many total biting incidents there have been.
Commander is the second Biden family dog to have a biting problem at the White House. In 2021, Biden sent his other German Shepherd, Major, to live with friends in Delaware.
