The White House got drenched in mockery after it appeared to credit Donald Trump for a remarkably calm start to the 2026 hurricane season.
Chris Martz, a meteorologist who has described himself as the “anti-Greta Thunberg,” noted the lack of hurricanes in a viral post on X, saying “history has been made” because “no hurricanes have formed in the North Atlantic Ocean so far this year.”
The White House’s Rapid Response 47 account on X quote-posted Martz’s message with an eyebrow-raising response: “Thank you, President Trump!”
The post came just two days after a federal judge ruled that the Trump administration had broken the law with its order to cut half the jobs at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Trump has previously called for FEMA to be shut down and argued that states should take greater responsibility for responding to disasters.
