Zach Bryan arrested, mugshot released, country music star issues apology

Country music star Zach Bryan issued an apology to police after being arrested. The singer wanted to be “completely transparent” with his fans and admitted that he had been “too lippy” with police.

Bryan was arrested in his home state of Oklahoma on Thursday night. He was arrested in Vinita on charges of obstruction of investigation, according to KJRH-TV. He was reportedly bonded out of the Craig County Jail approximately an hour after being booked.

Bryan took to social media early Friday morning with a video giving his side of the story.

“I just want to be completely transparent for everyone who listens to my music about what happened yesterday with me getting arrested and everything,” Bryan said in a five-minute video posted to social media. “Because I don’t want the internet to do what the internet does and, like, I don’t know, make stuff up.”

Bryan said he will have to face the “legalities” of his arrest but noted that the police did not “play favorites” with him.

“I was an idiot today,” Bryan bluntly stated. “My decisions did not reflect who I was as a person, and I just want to make that clear. And I should have been smarter about it.”

Bryan said his troubles started three days ago when he was pulled over for driving “four or five miles” over the speed limit in a small town in Oklahoma. During the traffic stop, the police officer asked for Bryan’s driver’s license, registration, and home address. Bryan said he wasn’t comfortable giving out his address.

The officer allegedly threatened Bryan with arrest if he did not provide his home address. After Bryan refused again, the officer asked him to exit his vehicle and then handcuffed the country music star.

Bryan explained why he didn’t want to give him his address but ended up giving his address. The cop let Bryan go with a warning.

Yesterday, Bryan began driving from his home in Tulsa to Boston to watch the Philadelphia Eagles play the New England Patriots at Foxborough Stadium on Sunday. Roughly 40 minutes into the drive, Bryan’s security guard – who was driving in another car – allegedly got pulled over by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Bryan pulled his car over next to the traffic stop involving his security guard.

Bryan said about 15 minutes into the traffic stop, he got out of his car and wondered, “What is taking so long?”

The officer allegedly instructed Bryan to get back in his vehicle, to which the singer responded, “I’m not the one getting pulled over.”

The cop purportedly said, “Get back in your vehicle or I’m going to have to take you to jail.”

Bryan said in the video, “Like a dumba**, I said, ‘Take me to f***ing jail? What do you mean?'”

Bryan said he got “too lippy” with the officer and “didn’t help his situation at all.”

Bryan described his behavior as “ridiculous and immature” and said he “felt like a child.”

“I just pray everyone knows that I don’t think I’m above the law, I was just being disrespectful, and I shouldn’t have been, and it was my mistake,” he told his fans.

“So I’m just getting more angry and angry, which is like the worst thing you can possibly do,” Bryan said. “So 15 minutes goes by, they finally let me out of the vehicle, and I’m just mouthing off like an idiot, like an actual child. I’m like, ‘Man, someone’s got to get ahold of you guys, why are you using your authority like this, this is so wrong.’ When in reality they were doing their jobs. I was just upset.”

Bryan said of the officer, “So he said, ‘I’m going to take you to jail,’ and he took me to jail.”

“I was just an idiot, and I’ll take the fall for it,” Bryan said in the video. “I’m a grown man, and I shouldn’t have behaved like that. And it won’t happen again.”

Bryan said he “cooled down” in jail and later shook hands with the officer who arrested him.

The Navy veteran launched his career in 2019 with his debut album “DeAnn,” which featured the hit song “Heading South.” Bryan reached massive popularity with the 2022 release of his “American Heartbreak” album. Bryan recently notched his first Billboard 200 No. 1 album with his “Zach Bryan” album that was released in late August. He already scored a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 song with “I Remember Everything,” featuring Kacey Musgraves.
