19-year-old dropped off at hospital with ‘potentially lethal’ blood alcohol level after torture hazing posted on social media

An outrageous incident of hazing was so extreme that teenagers had to drop off a 19-year-old with a potentially lethal blood alcohol level at a hospital.

The Glynn County Police Department said in its report that the teenager had been dropped off by three other teens at the Southeast Georgia Health System on Tuesday around 8:45 p.m. in Brunswick, Georgia.

Trenton Lehrkamp had a blood alcohol level of .464, which is more than four times the legal limit of .08 and far more than .30, which is considered potentially lethal.

Hospital staff found the teen unresponsive in the backseat of their vehicle. They said he was wearing clothing that was “soaked with urine” and he had “spray paint all over his body and hair.” He was breathing so poorly that he was placed on a ventilator.

Police said that he was treated for intoxication from “a mixture of controlled substances and alcohol.”

The day after the alleged incident, police performed a search warrant on the residence where the incident took place.

“Numerous items of evidence were collected and recorded related to this investigation,” police said. “Supplemental search warrants were also served on Wednesday, March 22, to gather further evidence.”

They also interviewed Lehrkamp on Sunday.

“He was alert and conscious and gave a statement about what transpired on the evening of Tuesday, March 21,” police added. “The victim and his family are fully cooperating with GCPD and the investigation.”

Not the first time

The father of the victim told police that he had been abused at least two other times at the same residence.

He said that four days before the last incident, his son had returned home “covered in WD-40, vomit, paint, glue, egg yolk and spray paint” after visiting the home.

A third time occurred prior to that when the boy came back with a “severe laceration above his left eye that needed stitches,” according to the report.

Shockingly, the father said that he allowed his son to continue going to the home where he had been abused because he had no other friends.

This account was corroborated by the fact that a video of the alleged hazing was posted to social media, but police said it was from an event prior to the Tuesday hazing.

Some of the perpetrators are said to be students of Glynn Academy. Lehrkamp had already graduated from the school.

More details from GoFundMe

A GoFundMe campaign was set up for the victim and contained additional details about the attack.

“Trent wouldn’t know until it was too late that these were not friends, but vile and abusive perpetrators who would go on to torture, humiliate, and assault him in inhumane, terrifying ways for hours.”

The statement said that Lehrkamp was fighting a lung infection and fevers. The account garnered more than $53k in donations.

Despite the three teenagers leaving their names with the hospital before leaving, police have not charged anyone over the incident.

“Our young people must be mindful of their actions,” read a statement from the police. “Negative actions can and will follow you throughout your adult life. Smart people do smart things. Followers are simply that, they will follow a so-called leader, even off a cliff. Be mindful of your actions. Bullying is wrong!”

A vigil is planned for the teenager by outraged members of the community on Monday.
