Angus Cloud died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, the Alameda County Coroner’s Office confirmed to Variety.
On July 31 at 11:30 am, Oakland police officers responded to an emergency call, and Cloud was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Cloud had been dealing with the death of his father, who was buried a week before his death.
“The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence,” Cloud’s family said in a statement.
Along with his breakout role in “Euphoria,” Cloud had been recently cast in “Scream 6” directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s new horror film, alongside Melissa Barrera. His additional film credits include “North Hollywood” (2021) and “The Line” (2023).
Cloud was also expected to reprise his role in the third season of “Euphoria” which has not begun production. “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud,” HBO said in a statement. “He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
