A Native American actress has publicly attacked Killers of the Flower Moon for focusing on the “white perspective” while also singling out “non-Native” director Martin Scorsese for being “given the liberty to tell our stories.”
Actress Devery Jacobs, who stars in the FX and Hulu series Reservation Dogs, aired her social justice grievances in a lengthy X/Twitter thread in which she also told white Oklahomans “fuck you.”
Her abrasive comments omitted the fact that Killers of the Flower Moon received the blessing of the Osage nation, which participated in the making of the period movie.
I HAVE THOUGHTS. I HAVE STRONG FEELINGS.
This film was painful, grueling, unrelenting and unnecessarily graphic.

Jacobs’ main complaints appeared to be the movie’s graphic depiction of violence against Native American people and the fact that the main protagonists — played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro — are white.
“This is the issue when non-Native directors are given the liberty to tell our stories; they center the white perspective and focus on Native people’s pain,” she wrote.
She later added: “And a massive Fuck You to the real life, white Oklahomans, who still carry and benefit from these blood-stained headrights” — a reference to the inherited oil rights that belonged to many Osage members in the early 20th century.

In her thread, Jacobs said the movie’s depiction of violence against Native American women “normalizes” that violence and “further dehumanizes our people.”
She also targeted fans of the movie, writing: “To see the way that film nerds are celebrating and eating this shit up? It makes my stomach hurt.”
As Breitbart News reported, Robert De Niro recently attacked Trump supporters during a “Stop Trump” summit in New York. The actor claimed Trump supporters have “already turned their backs” on “democracy.”
De Niro earlier used the movie’s splashy Cannes premiere in May to smear Trump supporters as “insane.”
