If seeing is believing, then an MS NOW supercut shows just how fearful Donald Trump’s judicial nominees are of getting on the president’s bad side just for being truthful.

During recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearings, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) has asked Trump’s judicial appointees if they thought the president lost the presidential election to Joe Biden in 2020.

Although the answer is clearly yes, that’s not an answer Trump wants to hear his nominees say, since he is still demanding the 2020 election results “be permanently wiped from the books and be of no further force or effect!”

As a result, as many as 40 of the people Trump has nominated to serve lifetime federal judgeships have given misleading or false responses to the election question.

Instead of just saying yes, nominees have tried to weasel out of the not-particularly-tough question by claiming Biden was “certified” by Congress or that he “served” as president.

It’s a tactic long employed by Republican lawmakers to avoid going against Trump’s lies, falsehoods and disinformation about the 2020 election.

This is the same tactic Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill have long used to avoid publicly contradicting Trump’s lies about the 2020 election.

And it isn’t just the judicial nominees.

MS NOW had a heated exchange on Sunday with California Republican gubernatorial candidate and former Fox News host Steve Hilton, who repeatedly refused to say definitively who won the 2020 presidential election.

During a “Morning Joe” appearance on Monday, Blumenthal expressed frustration at the unwillingness of Trump’s nominees to go against the president on the election issue.

“What these answers demonstrate to me is there was a fear of Donald Trump that would absolutely indicate their lack of independence.”

The show supported Blumenthal’s contention with a supercut showing various judicial nominees, including Arthur Jones, Michael Hendershot and Jeffrey Kuntz, trying as hard as they can not to be pinned down on the election question.

Although Democrats like Blumenthal have been the ones pushing the 2020 election question, at least one Republican is also wondering about the issue.

Last week, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) was overheard on a hot mic asking his staff, “What would be wrong if they said Biden won?”
