Stefon Diggs, a free agent wide receiver in the NFL, has been found not guilty of assault and strangulation in connection to a pay dispute with his private chef. The decision was made by a jury Tuesday.
To a charge of felony strangulation, Diggs put in a not guilty plea back in February, as well as to a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery that stemmed from the allegations. (RELATED: Missouri’s JJ Bush Arrested On Felony Charge, Suspended Indefinitely By Tigers: REPORT)
The duration of Diggs’ trial was just two days.
The center of the case was an encounter Dec. 2 that allegedly took place at the Dedham home of Diggs. An ex-live-in personal chef of Diggs who goes by Mila, it was testified by Jamila Adams that Diggs allegedly choked and slapped her amid an argument between the two.

The attorneys of Diggs stated that the claimed assault didn’t happen, while also questioning the credibility of Adams and if the dispute had to do with an alleged assault, tensions in their relationship or money. Diggs’ legal team also considered a disagreement regarding a Miami trip that was planned.
Diggs‘ lawyers directed towards Adams’ alleged financial demands and testimonies from employees and friends who stated that she seemingly wasn’t hurt shortly following the alleged encounter. Andrew Kettlewell, a defense attorney, also said to jurors in closing arguments that the prosecution hadn’t given “a single shred of credible evidence” that there was an assault.
