On August 4, Red Rock Resorts (NASDAQ:RRR) reported second-quarter results for the period ended June 30, and nearly every headline number moved in the wrong direction. Net revenue slipped 3% to $510.3 million, net income fell 29.3% to $76.6 million, and adjusted EBITDA dropped 9.3% to $208 million compared with the same quarter a year earlier. Yet the board still raised no red flags on the dividend, declaring $0.26 per Class A share for the quarter.

Las Vegas Still Carries The Load

Las Vegas operations did the heavy lifting once again. Net revenue from the segment came in at $503.2 million for the quarter, down just 2% year over year, a far gentler slide than the company posted overall. Adjusted EBITDA from Las Vegas held at $227.5 million, off 5% from $239.4 million in the second quarter of 2025, and still comfortably ahead of the company’s total adjusted EBITDA of $208 million once corporate costs are stripped out. With Native American activities contributing barely $3.8 million in revenue this quarter, Las Vegas remains the business almost in its entirety, and its decline was mild next to what happened elsewhere.

Despite the softer quarter, Red Rock Resorts kept its capital return program running. The board declared a cash dividend of $0.26 per Class A share for the quarter, payable September 30 to stockholders of record as of September 15. Ahead of that payment, Station Holdco LLC will distribute $0.26 per unit to all unit holders, a total of approximately $29 million, with about $17.1 million flowing back to the company itself. A management team willing to keep writing that check during a down quarter is signaling some confidence in what comes next.

Every Line Trending The Wrong Way

The bear case starts with how broadly the weakness spread. Net income for the quarter fell 29.3% to $76.6 million from $108.3 million a year earlier, a steeper drop than the revenue decline alone would suggest, meaning costs ate into the bottom line disproportionately. Adjusted EBITDA slid 9.3% to $208 million from $229.4 million, showing the pressure reached operating profitability and not just the top line.

The Native American segment was the sharpest casualty. Revenue there collapsed 62% to just $3.8 million from $10.0 million in the second quarter of 2025, and adjusted EBITDA from those activities fell 72% to $2.8 million from $10 million. That segment is now a rounding error next to Las Vegas, but the size of the drop raises questions about what happened there.

The balance sheet adds another layer of concern. Red Rock Resorts ended the quarter with just $136.5 million in cash and cash equivalents against total principal debt of $3.6 billion. That is a thin cushion relative to the debt load, especially in a quarter where profitability is already moving lower.

Wall Street Is Already Skeptical

Hedge fund ownership in Red Rock Resorts fell from 30 funds to 25 in the most recent quarter, a pullback that lines up with the softer results. Short interest sits at 11.47% of float, a level that signals a real bear camp has built a position against the stock. The forward P/E of 16.29, as of September 4, suggests that the market is still pricing in a reasonable earnings recovery rather than treating the stock as broken. That combination points to sentiment that has turned more cautious than the valuation alone would imply.

What Comes Next

Red Rock Resorts closed the second quarter of 2026 with a business still generating meaningful cash but showing cracks in nearly every segment. Las Vegas cushioned the blow this quarter, and the company kept paying its dividend even as profits fell. For the story to turn, the Las Vegas segment would need to stabilize, and the Native American business would need to explain its steep drop. For the bears, a $3.6 billion debt load against a shrinking EBITDA base and 11.47% short interest already sets a demanding bar. The next report will show whether the third quarter of 2026 marks a bottom or a continuation.
