CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten on Thursday highlighted new Fox News polling showing what he described as an “absolutely stunning” collapse in support for Donald Trump among voters under 30.
“They no longer think that Trump is groovy. He’s no longer jiggy with it,” Enten teed up his analysis, noting that Trump’s net approval rating among younger voters has fallen from +3 percentage points in October 2024 to -50 now, according to the poll.
“This is math we can all do,” said Enten. “53 points in the wrong direction amongst a group he was once positive with. It’s absolutely stunning.”
Trump’s performance on the economy and inflation appears to be driving much of the decline, Enten argued.
During the 2024 presidential election campaign, voters under 30 favored Trump over his Democratic rival Kamala Harris by 2 percentage points on the economy, he noted. But Trump’s net approval rating among the same age group on the issue now stands at -64 percentage points.
Enten also highlighted what he called Trump’s “eye-popping” numbers on inflation, with just 9% of younger voters approving of his handling of the issue and 91% disapproving.
“There are more Americans who think that we faked the moon landing than the percentage of young voters who actually approve of the job that Trump is doing on inflation,” said Enten. “These numbers are some of the worst I have ever seen in any poll, on any issue for any president.”
