Aaron Rodgers appears to have reunited with his family after a long-festering rift lasting more than a decade.
On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback posted several seemingly recent photos on Instagram captioned “another bonding week,” featuring him with his mother, Darla; his dad, Ed; his older brother, Luke; his sister-in-law, Aimee; and a young girl. Rodgers didn’t add any context behind the photos or when the reconciliation took place.
However, these photos seem to signal the end of a rift within the Rodgers family dating back to at least 2014. According to People, the conflict stemmed from sibling rivalry between Aaron Rodgers and his younger brother, Jordan Rodgers.
Tensions within the family were evident before. In 2020, the Super Bowl MVP told then-girlfriend Danica Patrick that he had a hard time with his family’s fundamentalist religious views.
“I don’t know how you can believe in a God who wants to condemn most of the planet to a fiery hell,” he said on her “Pretty Intense” podcast.
In addition, Aaron Rodgers wasn’t happy that Jordan Rodgers made a to-do about the estrangement when he was on “The Bachelorette” in 2016.
During a hometown visit on the dating show with his future bride, Jojo Fletcher, there were two empty chairs at the dinner table, presumably to represent the QB and his then-girlfriend, Olivia Munn.
Aaron Rodgers still seemed salty about it when he discussed it in the 2024 Netflix documentary “Aaron Rodgers: Enigma.”
“They go on a bullshit show and leave two empty chairs,” he said at the time in the documentary. “They all agreed this was like a good thing to do, to leave two empty chairs at a stupid dating show that my brother just went on to get famous — his words, not mine — that he ended up winning.”
Jordan Rodgers didn’t appear in any of the photos Aaron Rodgers posted on Monday, but according to People, he liked the post and the two follow each other on Instagram.
