Acciona has secured environmental approval from the General Directorate of Environmental Affairs for Electricity (DGAAE) of Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines for two high-voltage transmission line projects.

The DGAAE has endorsed the Environmental Impact Assessments for the ITC 220kV Caclic-Jaén Norte Link and the 220kV Ica-Poroma Link, including their associated substations.

The approved projects cover the construction, operation and maintenance of the infrastructure over a 30-year concession period.

The Caclic-Jaén line is expected to strengthen the electricity grids in the Cajamarca and Amazonas regions, with a particular focus on the Bagua-Jaén Electricity System.

The development aims to deliver a more reliable service that can meet future local energy demand and support the region’s economic activity.

The Caclic-Jaén Norte project includes building a new substation in Jaén Norte, expanding existing facilities, and constructing about 180km of transmission lines.

Construction is planned to take place near rural communities including Paclas, Dunia Chico, San Jerónimo, San Miguel de Chosgón and San Cristóbal de Olto.

For the Ica-Poroma project, Acciona intends to facilitate increased transmission capacity to accommodate current and future electricity generation, with an expectation that new energy will primarily come from non-conventional renewable energy sources.

The plans include more than 100km of new 220kV transmission lines, rerouting of the L-2315/L-2391 lines, expansion of the Ica and Poroma 220kV substations, and the construction of an additional Intermedia 220kV substation.

The project spans the provinces of Ica, Nasca and Palpa, passing near rural communities such as Yauca de Cocharcas and Señor Luren.

The Caclic-Jaén Norte and Ica-Poroma initiatives will support around 370,000 people across southern Peru, enhancing electricity transmission and meeting regional energy requirements.

The Ica-Poroma link is also intended to support integration with the Punta Lomitas and Dunas power plants, as well as future expansions of the National Interconnected Electricity System (SEIN).

In August 2026, Acciona, together with Aberdeen Investments as part of the Northway Consortium, finalised financial arrangements with the New Zealand Transport Agency for the Warkworth to Te Hana highway project.
