It’s time to embrace futbol, America.
FC Dallas forward Sam Sarver wasn’t happy with just getting a game-winning goal during stoppage time Saturday, he had to elevate the scene with a celebration. And that he did in the most epic fashion.
In the second-half stoppage time, Dallas and the San Jose Earthquakes were in a 2-2 tie. Sarver ended up getting a goal after finding an opportunity on a breakaway, giving Dallas a lead late in the match that was ultimately a 3-2 victory for them. Sarver owned the moment, beginning with a scuba celebration coordinated with his teammates that saw them fall from the advertisement boards, doing so theatrically.
Well, Earthquakes fans got angry about this, with some being so mad that they started throwing stuff at them. One of those projectiles happened to be a can of beer, and it still had some liquid gold in it.
So, like the overnight legend that he is, Sarver decided to pick up the beer off the ground and chugged the rest of it. It’s truly one of the most glorious celebrations I’ve ever seen in soccer, and quite frankly, you could say sports period.

I’m just saying, we Americans need to get more on board when it comes to soccer, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect with the FIFA World Cup coming up. And it’s in the United States!
So let this be the beginning of your soccer journey, ladies and gentlemen. And then you can tell people: “It all started with a beer.”
