The gold and silver coins, priced as high as $11,999.99, are being sold to mark the cage fight event that Trump has ordered staged on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14, his 80th birthday, as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
The Trump coins are “all designed by President Trump himself, which is amazing, where does he find the time,” the anchor jabbed.
Cooper recalled other Trump-branded products, including the presidential and first lady editions of the Bible, the “Never Surrender” sneakers and the $499 gold-plated Trump phone, which is now finally shipping after long delays.
On the subject of the phone, Cooper noted that it was no longer being advertised as American-made. “While originally touted as being ‘Made in the USA,’ they’re now marketed as ‘designed with American values in mind.’”
“Sorry,” Cooper said, apologizing as he struggled to suppress laughter.
He then broke into another chuckle before adding:
“We should just pause and reflect on that claim for a moment: ‘Designed with American values in mind.’ I don’t know what that means. Someone was thinking about America when they signed the contract to hawk these? Experts say they closely resemble a phone made in China, but somehow, American values were thought about when they were designed. Rest easy.”
