Sam Adams’ parent company stated its Boston Taproom was emptied of the entity’s flagship Boston Lager recently due to Scottish soccer fans in the city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup guzzling four times the amount that the bar normally sells.
In a press release per ESPN, Boston Beer Co. stated that from Thursday-Sunday, Scotland’s supporters organization, the Tartan Army, threw down four times what’s normally stocked by the company for a usual four-day holiday run such as the Fourth of July. The brand added it was forced to set up an emergency beer delivery Saturday morning, and not just that, but put in additional deliveries to guarantee the supply holds. “We’ve never seen anything like it,” said Sam Adams Boston Taproom’s Billy DeCain while speaking with NBC Boston.
“The White Bull Tavern, there was no beer,” Scotland fan Dave Orr said to NBC. “The Scottish fans just drank the place dry, and all they had was Bud Light.”
