Somebody needs to send me one of these, what a gem.
We still have a first-round Game 7 to play between the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning, but that didn’t stop the NHL from getting their second round underway, and personally that’s fine with me. Especially after what was released in the process by the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Canes take on the Philadelphia Flyers, the first time that the two have ever met in the playoffs, and things got started Saturday with a 3-0 Carolina win in Game 1. And the Hurricanes kicked off that Game 1 in spectacular fashion. (RELATED: Wayne Gretzky 1988 Stanley Cup Jersey Sells For Record-Breaking $2.8 Million In Goldin Auction)
Be introduced, ladies and gentlemen, to the beer skates.
Beginning with Game 1, Carolina fans who attend a postseason game in Raleigh at Lenovo Center will be able to get a literal skate full of beer, and yeah, it might be plastic, but it’s still a skate of beer!
It’s so epic:

I need one of these, so anybody in North Carolina who is going to a future Hurricanes game, you know the drill.
I’m all about collectibles, especially in the world of sports, and with this one, not only can you have a cold beer, but I’m over here visualizing using this thing for a iced coffee beside the pool on one of those warm South Florida mornings in the summer. And yeah, I might be a Florida Panthers fan, but growing up near Raleigh and being a hurricane enthusiast, I think I deserve one of these.
Oh, and I’d also like to thank Carolina for getting me some coin in Game 1 … I had the moneyline … thank you, boys!
