From start to finish, it was Cameron Young’s tournament, and he even got to chop it up with the president.
The 28-year-old is by far having the hottest stretch right now in the game of golf. At the Genesis Invitational, he finished in a seventh-place tie, going on to put up a T-3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Fast forward a week later, and he ended up winning THE PLAYERS Championship, and then he topped that all off with a third-place finish at The Masters.
It’s been an incredible run for Young, and it got even better this past weekend at Trump National Doral in Miami. Young absolutely dominated the Blue Monster, getting a six-shot win in the Cadillac Championship to secure his second victory of the season. And that’s not all: Young also collected a $3.6 million purse, blew away Scottie Scheffler‘s -13 score and President Donald Trump was there to watch it all. Young also happened to briefly meet up with the president after the fact, and he was questioned about that meeting, with the three-time PGA Tour winner saying he was “grateful” that the tournament was held at the Blue Monster and declared it an “honor” to play in front of the President of the United States.
“It’s very unique,” said Young while speaking in a press conference after the tournament. “He’s nothing if not a very, very interesting man. He’s very powerful, and it’s an honor to get to play in front of him. Hugely grateful to him and his family and his organization that has these beautiful properties and allows us to come and play great golf tournaments on them. This is a special place and great championship golf course, I’m thankful to have it back in the schedule.”

From Thursday to Sunday, I watched Cameron Young play immaculate golf, and though he cost me my bets, it was spectacular to watch.
The Cadillac Championship was a tough tournament to dutch because of the Blue Monster not being on the PGA Tour schedule for awhile, there was limited history to go by, and as a result, a model that I use took what it had and gave me negative feedback on Young. This obviously swayed me away, after all, I win tournaments consistently, why shouldn’t I trust the model after helping me win so much?
But I’ll tell you what, Cameron Young played such a beautiful game of golf this weekend, that I couldn’t help but to not get mad.
