CNN anchor Dana Bash tried — but failed — to convince House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D) to endorse banning Democrats from appearing on Fox News.
During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Bash asked Jeffries whether he will mandate that rank-and-file Democrats boycott Fox News until the network apologizes for its alleged role in spreading falsehoods about the 2020 election.
“Do you, as party leader, think that Democrats should refrain from going on FOX before that apology happens?” Bash asked.
“No,” Jeffries responded.
“What I think should happen right now is that everyone, whether it’s on another network or whether it’s just in the public domain, certainly in Congress, should refrain from perpetrating a big lie, because the big lie has consequences,” he explained.

The question stemmed from a letter that Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) sent Fox Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch last week.
That letter asked Murdoch to mandate his employees to stop “spreading false election narratives,” claiming they will lead to “further acts of political violence.” The letter came as new details about Fox News’ 2020 election coverage captured headlines as part of a $1.6 billion lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems against the network.
Democrats, co-opting a phrase coined by Adolf Hitler, accuse Fox News of propagating “the big lie” about the 2020 election.
“As noted in your deposition released yesterday, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and other Fox News personalities knowingly, repeatedly, and dangerously endorsed and promoted the ‘big lie’ that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election,” Schumer and Jeffries wrote. “Though you have acknowledged your regret in allowing this grave propaganda to take place, your network hosts continue to promote, spew, and perpetuate election conspiracy theories to this day.”
Fox News, however, is vigorously defending itself on First Amendment grounds.
