Disney child star Joshua Bassett revealed the shocking depths of his drug addiction in the June 8 episode of the “More Life with Carl Radke” podcast.
He opened up about the dark side of fame and admitted that his drug addiction spiraled so far out of control that he was surprised he survived.
“I was like 23 when things got really out of hand – it should have killed me, the level of stuff….” Bassett told Radke. The host recalled his own addiction to cocaine, noting that he used to use drugs all day, and Bassett agreed to having the same experience.
“Yeah, I mean all day, all night,” Bassett said.
Bassett referenced admissions made in his book, “Rookie: My Public, Private and Secret Life,” released May 5.
He candidly described that he became reclusive, and his life revolved around scoring and using drugs. The actor and singer admitted that at the peak of his struggles, his daily schedule was structured around his addiction.
“I mean I talk in the book how my dealer didn’t start selling until about 3 pm, so I’d set an alarm for 2:55 pm, go down to the ATM, get as much as my daily limit would allow – from the ATM- and then I’d buy as much as that would get me,” he said.
Bassett continued, “Then I’d try to make it – and it would last until through the next day.”
“And I’d use it all before 10 am and then I’d sleep until 2:55 and you know – like – I had more money than anyone at my age should have, and no one checking me,” he said. (RELATED: REPORT: Dr. Salvador Plasencia, Sentenced In Matthew Perry Case, Wants To Be Resentenced As Drug Dealer)

His list of credits includes “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Dirty John,” “Lethal Weapon,” “Game Shakers,” and the films “Better Nate Than Ever” and “Limbo,” to name a few.
