Those suffering from hair loss have found both comfort and results from visiting Hårklinikken clinics around the world. The company is expanding and currently has location in California, New York, Florida, Iceland, the UAE and Denmark. The Beverly Hills location just opened and a Miami location is in the works. Danish founder Lars Skjøth has created clinics that incorporate Scandinavian design elements to create a soothing atmosphere that is anything but medicinal. The products incorporate natural ingredients and the extracts are customized for each client. Skjøth explains the popularity of the program and the results you can expect.

The environment in the clinics is super relaxing—why is that important and what were you hoping to achieve?

Hair thinning can affect an individual’s mental and physical health. When someone decides to visit one of our clinics, we strive to ensure they immediately feel welcome and at ease upon entering. Hair thinning is a vulnerable experience that clients may have difficulty talking about. We want the client to feel that they are entering a haven where they are met with genuine compassion, heartfelt listening and understanding, coupled with the highest level of expertise in hair and scalp. This environment empowers clients to freely share their concerns with professionals dedicated to their unique circumstances, knowing that we will dedicate as much time as necessary to develop a tailored and optimal treatment plan for their specific needs.

Can you describe how the customization works?

Every person is unique, as are the combination of causes and patterns of their hair thinning. Our hero product, the Hair Gain Extract, is meticulously crafted for each client following their initial consultation. The formula undergoes continuous adjustments throughout the treatment, guided by the client’s response and commitment to the plan.

Customization of the Hair Gain Extract is based on several factors like gender, ethnic make-up, age, scalp condition, oil production, hair type, and hair thinning pattern. The Hair Gain Extract consists of many different constituents derived from various groups of plant-based material, and it holds unique constituents derived from a particular source of cow’s milk. All ingredients work in synergy to carefully nourish the hair follicle and reduce attacks, promoting thicker and healthier hair. Powerful ingredients, like marigold and burdock root, are meticulously crafted by Hårklinikken to optimize conditions for hair growth, scalp and hair follicle microbiome and reduce attacks on the hair follicles.

What makes an ideal client?

At Hårklinikken, we only take on clients we truly believe we can help and focus on male/female pattern hair thinning. The initial consultation starts off with one of Hårklinikken’s Hair Specialists assessing scalp health, hair quality, hair thinning pattern, and progression of thinning. The Specialist will also review relevant health history that might have impacted the hair thinning as well as prior or current hair loss treatments to determine candidacy. We can help people in many circumstances except with autoimmune hair loss, such as alopecia areata or alopecia totalis. Additionally, if the person has a severe scalp condition, or we suspect an underlying cause of the hair loss, we might refer the individual to a dermatologist, an endocrinologist or another relevant medical professional to ensure any possible issues are addressed before starting their treatment with Hårklinikken.

How long does it usually take to see results?

If a client is committed to their daily application of the Hair Gain Extract, they can expect to see initial results within 2 to 4 months. Maximum potential is achieved in 1 to 3 years, depending on the level of hair thinning.

Are there any different hair issues in different countries? i.e., the US vs. Iceland vs. the UAE?

Hair issues can vary quite a lot between countries and even between regions within the same country, which can be attributed to climate, lifestyle and even cultural traditions.

Individuals living in extreme climates must work diligently to maintain good scalp health. For example, in our clinical research in Iceland, we have learned that environmental factors can significantly affect hair and scalp health. The cold, dry climate, as well as hard water, can seriously impact scalp health as it can become dry, irritated, and flakey, and if not cared for properly, it could lead to hair thinning. We also see symptoms of imbalance in the scalp environment in clients living in very warm climates. They are exposed to very high temperatures as well as A/C in their homes, in the car, in the mall, the supermarket and at work, which can result in an imbalance in the scalp microbiome and lead to scalp problems and hair loss.

The impact of air pollution can also negatively impact your scalp environment. Air pollution refers to particles in the air with diameters that are generally 10 micrometers smaller. These particles can infiltrate the hair follicle and settle on the scalp’s surface. Pollutants from traffic or pollen can contribute to scalp irritation, itching, excessive oil production, and hair loss.
