An investigation has been opened by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office into Matt Miller, an NFL Draft analyst for ESPN, regarding fantasy football allegations. In a statement, the office confirmed to sports media outlet Awful Announcing that there is “an open investigation into this issue.”

Recently, Awful Announcing has been covering the complaints connected to the fantasy football leagues allegedly owned by Miller, scouting lessons that were paid, and other experiences tied to charity that go back around 10 years. The outlet talked with at least seven individuals who revealed entry fees that were paid for fantasy leagues meant for charity, which were allegedly operated by Miller in a commissioner role. At times, buy-ins reached up to $500, just for Miller to allegedly disappear when winnings were supposed to be paid out. Miller was also allegedly unreachable when people were looking for answers regarding what charities received money.

Over 40 more people have contacted Awful Announcing since publication telling stories that are similar, with a lot of the individuals supporting their claims with evidence. According to Sleeper, a fantasy football platform, Miller’s alleged account was commissioner for a total of 91 fantasy leagues in the 2025 campaign by itself.

In June, Miller suffered critical injuries in a Missouri car accident that resulted in his left arm having to be amputated. A GoFundMe was launched by his family for costs related to medical bills, rapidly drawing donations from high-profile sports media members such as Adam Schefter, Pat McAfee and Mina Kimes. However, the fundraising also put a spotlight on a Reddit thread that catalogs the complaints related to payment from competitors in the fantasy football leagues ran by Miller.
