Jimmy Kimmel returned to television on Tuesday after taking the summer off to discover that he and his longtime nemesis share something.
“Donald Trump and I have one thing in common,” Kimmel said. “We both accomplished nothing all summer long.”
Kimmel noted that when he left for his vacation, gas prices were high, the war with Iran was continuing and the Reflecting Pool was a mess after Trump’s botched “repair” to the D.C. landmark.
But today, nothing has changed.
If anything, the Reflecting Pool looks worse than ever after a storm blew over a fence into the pool, which has only a small amount of water in it as repairs continue.
“Wait, are you telling me the president of the United States had three full months and spent $20 million and couldn’t even get a pool cleaned?” Kimmel asked as he showed footage: “There it is!”
Kimmel added: “How are we supposed to win the war with Iran when we can’t even win the war against algae?”
Kimmel said Trump is “crazier than ever” as he spent the holiday weekend posting memes and AI slop dozens of times a day.
“It almost felt like he was welcoming me back to work,” Kimmel cracked, then pointed out that several of Trump’s posts were about changing the name of New Mexico to New America.
That led Kimmel to offer the president a reality check.
“Listen, if there was a new America, we’d all go there immediately,” Kimmel said. “We’re all for that!”
